M.A.D.EDITIONS

In June 2021, MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser presented a timepiece called the M.A.D.1: not an MB&F Machine but a more accessible timepiece developed under a different brand, M.A.D.Editions, linking it to the mechanical art universe that has been created with the M.A.D.Galleries.

Maximilian Büsser loves creating MB&F’s insane mechanical timepieces, as complex as they are limited. Nonetheless, Max had been playing with a side project for several years: creating a more accessible timepiece, under another label, but always with the crazy MB&F touch. The result is the “M.A.D.1”.

The idea behind the M.A.D.Editions was born out of a certain frustration that not everyone could afford an MB&F timepiece, not even Maximilian Büsser’s own family or friends – The treasured Fs in the name MB&F – who have all played major roles in the success of the brand. The timepiece would be as creative as everything else MB&F had developed, only at an affordable price. This meant, that it wouldn’t be possible to put the MB&F name on it. To keep the price accessible, the engineering, complexity and finishing would obviously not be in the same league as MB&F’s horological machines, so a new brand name had to be found.

The original M.A.D.1 launched in 2021 was recognisable thanks to its blue highlights; it was proposed exclusively to MB&F’s suppliers, “the Friends”, and to the members of “The Tribe”, the brand’s owners club. However, the general feedback to the M.A.D.1 was so overwhelmingly positive that Maximilian Büsser promised a follow-up version in 2022, available this time to a wider audience. The result was the M.A.D.1 RED.

In 2023, the M.A.D.1 GREEN joins M.A.D.Editions’ colourful series.
With this new choice of vivid mint green, fans and collectors who haven’t been able to acquire their own M.A.D.Edition yet, will get another chance – with a little bit of luck - to be picked and join wearers of the blue and red models.

The M.A.D.1 GREEN is built on the same platform as the original M.A.D.1, with the same innovative case structure. It has the same lateral time display, featuring two rotating cylinders for the hours and minutes. The upside-down modified Miyota movement is powered by a triple-blade winding rotor in titanium and tungsten, the star of the show – especially when the Super-LumiNova kicks in!
